NCRA Receives 2026 Power of Associations Summit Award for Advocacy Response to FY26 Budget Threats

NCRA’s program “Safeguarding Cancer Surveillance: An Advocacy Response to FY26 Budget Threats” received the ASAE's 2026 Power of Associations Summit Award

ALEXANDRIA, VA, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- NCRA’s program “Safeguarding Cancer Surveillance: An Advocacy Response to FY26 Budget Threats” received the American Society of Association Executives’ (ASAE) 2026 Power of Associations Summit Award on September 22, 2026, at their awards dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. ASAE’s Summit Awards celebrate innovative programs, strategic partnerships, and bold initiatives that demonstrate the unique ability of associations to solve complex challenges, strengthen professions and industries, and improve lives. It is ASAE’s highest honor, recognizing associations creating meaningful impact across the United States and around the world.

NCRA’s ‘Advocacy Now’ program was a nationwide effort to protect the U.S. cancer surveillance system after the FY26 proposed federal budget called for eliminating funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) and significantly reducing support for the National Cancer Institute’s Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program. Together these programs collect cancer data for nearly 100% of the population and provide the foundation for cancer research, prevention, treatment, and public health decision-making.

Jennie Jones, NCRA Immediate Past President, accepted the award on behalf of the many NCRA members, volunteer leaders, and national partners whose participation in NCRA’s Advocacy Now efforts ensured success and made this award possible. Through coordinated grassroots advocacy, strategic outreach, and compelling communications, this program elevated awareness of the critical role cancer registries and registrars play in America’s fight against cancer. These efforts helped secure bipartisan support for continued funding, preserving the nation’s cancer surveillance infrastructure and the data that drives lifesaving research, innovation, and improved patient outcomes.
