Saudi Arabia Downs Multiple Drones
Officials stated that several drones were intercepted over the eastern region of the country as security forces moved to neutralize the aerial threats.
A report published Friday by The Wall Street Journal indicated that five U.S. Air Force aerial refueling aircraft sustained damage while stationed on the ground at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. Quoting two American officials, the newspaper noted that although the tanker planes were hit, they were not destroyed and are presently undergoing repairs, with no injuries reported.
Sources said the aircraft were struck during an Iranian missile assault targeting the installation in recent days.
Tensions across the Middle East have escalated sharply since the United States and Israel carried out a coordinated strike against Iran on Feb. 28. According to reports, the attacks have resulted in at least 1,300 deaths in Iran, including the then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has launched waves of drone and missile strikes aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states that host U.S. military facilities. These attacks have led to casualties and damage to infrastructure while also disrupting international markets and aviation operations.
